In his last position, before joining Cellzome, David was Vice President, Inflammation Discovery Research at Wyeth Research in Boston, and co-chair of the Inflammation Therapeutic Area Leadership team. In this function, David was responsible for the delivery of innovative pipeline projects and clinical development candidate drugs for inflammatory diseases. David is currently a grant panel reviewer for the UK's Multiple Sclerosis Society and is a reviewer for the Wellcome Trust, Medical Research Council, Leukaemia Research Fund, Cancer Research Campaign and Arthritis Research Campaign.
Jane Dancer | is Vice President of Business Development at Cellzome. Jane has been Director, Business Development at MedImmune Ltd (formerly Cambridge Antibody Technology (CAT)) where she was responsible for negotiating in- and out-licensing activity in relation to CAT's core technology and patents. This included being part of the team that negotiated the major strategic alliance with AstraZeneca that subsequently led to the acquisition of CAT in 2006. Before joining CAT in 2002, Jane was with Aventis Crop Science as a Global Project Manager (2000-2001), and with Agrevo UK Ltd (1990-1999), formerly Schering Agrochemicals Ltd, where she rose to become Team Leader responsible for leading multidisciplinary project teams within the research and early development process. Jane has an MBA from The Judge Institute of Management Studies, University of Cambridge and a PhD in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge.
Gerard Drewes | is Vice President of Discovery Research at Cellzome. After obtaining his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Heidelberg and the Max-Planck-Institute for Medical Research, he was a postdoctoral fellow and staff scientist in E. Mandelkow's lab at the Max-Planck-Institute for Structural Molecular Biology in Hamburg. It was here that Gerard discovered the MARK kinases as targets for the treatment of tau pathology in Alzheimer's disease. For this discovery, he was awarded the Boehringer Research Prize in 1998. Since his Habilitation degree in 1999, Gerard is a a lecturer in Biochemistry at the University of Hamburg, and, before joining Cellzome in 2000, he was a Visiting Scientist in the lab of Sir Paul Nurse at the London Cancer Research Institute. Gerard is the author of more than 30 publications mostly in the field of protein kinases and neurobiochemistry.
Richard Hale | is Vice President Development Projects & UK Site Head and is a founder of Cellzome UK. He received his PhD from the University of Cambridge, working on the biochemistry of macrolide biosynthesis with Professor Peter Leadlay. Following a short post-doctoral stay at Cambridge, Richard moved to Glaxo, where over more than ten years he held a number of positions: Starting as a senior scientist in the Natural Products Discovery Department, he subsequently moved to the Biomolecular Structure Unit to become a Group Leader responsible for the Protein & Antibody Expression Group. In 1998, he worked with Walter Blackstock and Malcolm Weir to set up GlaxoWellcome’s CellMap Project.
Gitte Neubauer | is Vice President of Research Operations and a founder of Cellzome. She graduated from Imperial College, London in Biochemistry and worked during that period for Glaxo, both in London and in North Carolina. Gitte completed her PhD thesis with Matthias Mann at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg in the field of functional proteomics, pioneering the mass spectrometric analysis of protein complexes. At Cellzome, she has been in charge of building and leading the mass spectrometry and IT departments before she was more recently made responsible for research operations and the setting up of the Kinobeads™ screening facility. Gitte is the author of more than 30 scientific publications and a member of the advisory editorial board of the journal Drug Discovery Today.
